Not Voting

November 04, 2008

I want to know who’s NOT voting! All I hear is reminders to vote. On tv, on the radio, internet, friends… Everyone is reminding everyone to vote. To me, it’s sort of a “duh” thing. I can’t imagine NOT voting. It seems that everyone I know is voting.

So, tell me who isn’t! Only like 55% of Americans vote. Who are these other 45% of people who aren’t voting? Tell me so I can go slap them.

Seriously, WHO’S NOT VOTING?!?

  2. Me. I know, slap me now.

But by the time I realized I needed to get an absentee ballot (over a MONTH ago!) it was too late, and didn't come in time, much less have time to get back to the States in time for the election. Mail just takes forever to get here on the other side of the world.

I know, I'm horrible. I won't make the same mistake next time. I will request my ballot FAAAAAR in advance!

  3. I didn't vote. Frankly, I was relieved when I found out that we moved to Iowa too close to the election to vote there and too late to register as an absentee in MI. I liked some of what each candidate stood for, but also would struggle to vote in agreement with either of them. I was going to vote, despite my political apathy, but I was relieved to lose my right for this year.

Someday I'll run for office and this comment will haunt me.
