- was back in the office.
- went to my first Fridays by the Fountain this season and got disappointed & sunburned.
- got a poorly made chicken salad sandwich from Chocolate Cafe. Good thing it tasted great and was on special saving me 2 1/2 bucks!
- hurried home after work and got dressed up 80's style.
- met my honey and went to my friend's 80's themed birthday party - FUN!
- hurried up to New Buffalo, MI (my first time there!).
- enjoyed a graduation celebration dinner with my honey and his family at Skip's.
- partook in a buffet of wonderful food, many of which I had to ask my boyfriend what they were.
- then went to the beach as the sun was setting where he and I enjoyed walking along the sand.
- got up early (5:30).
- watched the sun rise over Notre Dame.
- met my boyfriend's family in Niles, MI.
- traveled to Kalamazoo, MI (my first time there also!) and watched my honey walk across stage to get his Master's degree!
- explored Schoolcraft, MI with honey and his brother.
- brunched at MarJo's.
- headed back to Niles.
- checked out Niles' Art Fest where I was offered free popcorn and declined, treated myself to a cherry shake and regretted it later, contemplated getting a henna tattoo, chatted with an ice and sand sculptor and then decided that was enough.
- stopped at a cute gift shop.
- sadly turned down an invite to get together with friends.
- had an awesome nap at home.
- met the girls for Girls Night at Carrabba's.
- caught up on everybody's lives and enjoyed pink lemonade sorbet at Coldstone.
- woke up early mad that I had to go to work.
- realized it was Sunday and I didn't have to go to work!
- lounged around and then decided to go to first service.
- took pages of notes as I listened to Sam's amazing sermon.
- got work done at home.
- went to Panera with honey.
- had fun wandering around stores with honey.
- did more work at home.
- relaxed with a movie.
- contemplated baking - and still contemplating.

Is there any way I can fast forward to ... oh, say, Sunday?
I am beyond overwhelmed, just trying to not get buried under everything going on in my life right now. At work and at home. A lot of it is good things. Just not good timing.
3 days of camp; 3 events scheduled for Friday - in addition to catching up in the office; getting up early & traveling to K-Zoo Saturday; Girls Night Out... Those are all good things! It's just a lot to maneuver in 5 days.
Lord, help me!

Even though I have a really great dentist & dental assistant, I still dread going. I get very nervous every single time.
I have an appointment today during lunch. So, of all the things I should or shouldn't eat right before seeing the dentist, I decided to eat a poptart for breakfast. Um, yah... Oh well. I'm on this crazy poptart kick, and I am lacking in the grocery department currently.
So, I pulled my poptart out at my desk. My co-worker brought in a toaster awhile ago, which I had thought was weird, but now I appreciate.
Unfortunately my poptart was in four crumbly pieces. Bummer. I always toast the poptart - and scald my fingers trying to get it out. Well, I decided I'd just stick it in the microwave for a few seconds. Maybe 10. As it's warming up, I suddenly recall reading the microwave directions for poptarts years ago and that it said to heat in microwave for literally like 3 seconds. So, I stopped it at 7.
I bit into a corner piece. Yum. It was barely warm but still good. The next piece including the filling. Yipes! Now I know why it said to heat for 3 seconds. The filling gets ridiculously hot. And I totally burned my tongue.
Now off to the dentist I go with a burned tongue and no doubt lots of sugar residue all over my teeth.
Moral of the story: avoid poptarts.
Will I follow my own advice?
Of course not!

This week has been crazy busy. I'm still trying to keep everything straight in my head. What a challenge! At least I am down to just Friday now.
Tomorrow - catching up on office work, hopefully catching the military vehicle parade in town (hoping for no rain!), lunch, afternoon meeting, then briefly speaking to a gathering - I need to figure out what I'm going to say!
Then I'm off to a wedding rehearsal & rehearsal dinner with Josh.
Saturday - morning wedding & reception. Then in the evening... Josh & I are going to this gala event in my favorite town. It's hors d'oeuvres, dinner, red carpet, and a showing of Casablanca in their newly restored 1920's theatre. I'm so excited!! Now, I just need to figure out what I'm going to wear!
Sunday is church and Father's Day, so I think we're talking about a late brunch. I do love brunch!
There's also a good chance I'll have to be working more over the weekend. (Boo!)
Monday is a dentist appointment, and then Tuesday - Thursday is our kids architecture camp! It's gonna be another crazy busy week!

After taking part in Saturday’s events and now helping with this week’s events, please allow me a moment of rage:
I CAN’T STAND TO BE A PART OF AN EVENT THAT IS SO COMPLETELY DISORGANIZED. EITHER LET ME ORGANIZE IT FROM THE BEGINNING OR I DON’T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. I CAN’T FIX ALL YOUR MISTAKES!!
I AM AMAZED THAT I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS YOUR DRINKS NEED TO BE CHILLED – NOT SITTING IN THE TRUNK OF YOUR CAR ALL DAY!! AND YOU NEED A CORKSCREW IN ORDER TO OPEN THAT WARM WINE!! AND YOU NEED SERVING UTENSILS AND PLATES – YOU FORGOT PLATES!!!! AND TOOTHPICKS! PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO BE EATING THEIR FOOD WITH THEIR FINGERS!!
AND WHERE ARE THE TABLES? WHY IS NOTHING SET UP AND WHY WAS THE BUILDING NOT UNLOCKED SO WE COULD START SETTING UP?!?!?!? WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CONFIRM WITH THE SPEAKER THAT HE WOULD ACTUALLY SHOW UP? WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CONFIRM WITH THE VENDORS THAT THEY WOULD ACTUALLY BE THERE?
AND NOW TO REALIZE THAT I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS THAT 30 GALLONS OF MILK AND 30 CARTONS OF JUICE WILL NOT FIT IN A STANDARD SIZE FRIDGE!!!!!!!
REALLY!!!! WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS OF THESE THINGS??????????!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I’M NOT BROUGHT IN UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE WHEN IT’S TOO LATE TO REALIZE THESE THINGS. AND I’M SUPPOSED TO COME UP WITH A PLAN B WHEN I DIDN’T EVEN COME UP WITH STUPID PLAN A!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN I REALLY EVEN CALL THAT A PLAN?!?
But now it’s time to pull it together again because somebody has to! Lord, help me!

I am currently obsessed with fresh fruit! That's in addition to my current hot dog & pop tart obsessions, but that's beside the point!
I just sliced up fresh cantaloupe - mmmm! I seriously have to force myself to not go crazy eating it. That would not be good!
When I arrived in Vegas and we went to Josh's brother & sister-in-law's house, this amazing plate of fresh fruit was brought out. I was beyond excited! After the fruit plate, came fresh pineapple juice smoothies!
I'll have to share more pictures and stories of my trip out west, but for now, enjoy the fruit!

New poll on the side of my blog! Check it out & vote!
A week ago I left my honey in Vegas. He came back to me Friday. While he was gone, I was sneaky.
I bought him a grill and made arrangements with his younger brother Jeremy to help me transport it from the store. He also confirmed that it was a good grill and that Josh would love it!
It took us/Jeremy a long time to put it together, and at the very end we couldn't find the final pieces we needed - the things that you actually put the food on! Turns out they were in an overlooked, unopened box in the big box full of trash, ha! Good thing we found them.
We then hid the massive grill in Josh's bathroom.
The next day my honey arrived and came straight to my place in South Bend. I, of course, was extremely eager to get him to his place in Elkhart! I suggested we go there first so he could drop his luggage and freshen up. But he suggested we go to dinner first. I can't blame him; it was already 8:00.
I convinced him to go to dinner in Elkhart. Then when we were driving right past his place I said I really had to go to the bathroom (normal for me) and asked if we could stop at his place. Score!
Jeremy had turned the light on in Josh's bathroom and shut the door. So when we got there, of course Josh wanted to know why his bathroom light was on. Surprise! I think he reacted twice. 1 - to a large object filling up the middle of his bathroom. And then 2 - the realization of what it was. And maybe even 3 - when I smiled, hugged him, and said, "Happy Graduation!"
sneaky me & jeremy...
me & joshy happily looking forward to burgers, hot dogs, steaks, etc.

Working Saturday sucks.
I'm hoping I get Monday off because of it.
In the last 2 days, I made 4 trips to Kinko's. 3 of which were today. The latest of which was at midnight. Kinko's is an eerily quiet and comforting place at midnight.
My honey made it back home this evening. I picked him up and took him home and then we enjoyed dinner at Hacienda, which we love. I had to make up an excuse to go to his place so I could do the big reveal.
While he was out of town, my sneaky little self set up a surprise for him. Pictures & details to come.
I need sleep right now. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day. Working approximately 9:30 am to Midnight. Yuck!!

Unexpected Blessings:
- It's Friday! And yes, that is unexpected since it's only my 3rd day in the office this week.
- A Good Hair Day!
- This morning my work associate friend Amy brought me perfect little applesauce donuts from West End Bakery - yum!
- I got $20 in the mail today, woot woot!
- I get to see my honey today!! I had originally thought he wouldn't be home til Sunday.
- Discovering forgotten Logan's leftovers in my fridge - and they're still good!
- Last night I found the "Stranger than Fiction" dvd in the $3.99 bin at Best Buy!
- The other day in Vegas Josh & I took his nephew with us to go pick up Dunkin' Donuts coffee for everyone. We ended up getting 6 beverages and a dozen donuts all FREE!
Watching this is a GREAT way to start your day!!!
Lord, forgive me for how much pleasure I get out of this woman's pain. *Snicker, snicker*

1. Death
2. Taxes
I don't know who first said it. But it's now a common phrase. And I'm experiencing both right now as I adjust back to life in the Midwest.
1. Death
A couple weeks ago at work we started receiving daily updates about the poor health our IT guy at Headquarters was in suddenly. He was fine. Then the emails started...
emergency surgery
ICU
respirator
unconscious
infection
multiple strokes
etc.
When I returned to work today I found emails now talking about his memorial service.
Wow. The guy was only 40.
I read his obit. Left behind a dad, a sister, and her family. It talked about the many schools he went to and where he worked, and how he spent the last decade with our organizatioin.. In place of flowers, his family is asking for donations to our organization. Our headquarters is handling the post service reception. His family has given us right of first refusal on some of his belongings.
I just don't get it. My life is not my job. My job is not my life. It's hard for me to relate to those whose lives revolve around their job. I've never had that much of a tight relationship with the place that pays me to do work.
It got me thinking. What's my obituary gonna say? Where I worked? Where I went to school? My hobbies?
What really matters when it's all said and done? When I am no more - what do I leave behind?
2. Taxes
The day I returned from Vegas I picked up the mail. A letter to me from the Indiana Department of Revenue. Gulp.
They're telling me I did my taxes incorrectly. Crap.
I find my copies (good thing I still had them) and pore over them, trying to figure out what I did incorrectly. I can't find anything wrong. I have my mom double-check; she can't find anything wrong. She has her tax professional friend double-check as well; again, nothing wrong.
Conclusion: I did nothing wrong. I made no mistake. The State did when they said I was wrong.
So, now I have to fight this. Provide documentation and proof that they screwed up. And then wait 8-12 weeks for it to be re-processed. Oh boy. What a mess. You'd think they would do some double-checking of their own when they find what they think is an error...
So, death & taxes. Two things that will happen. But two things that I don't have to fear if I have The One in my life.

Architecture Camp in New Carlisle. This is what I get to do.
Reminisce with me as we watch a little Zack Morris!!
I am back in The Bend. But this morning I woke up in Vegas after just 3 hours of sleep. My sweet honey dragged himself out of bed too to take me to the airport at 4 in the morning. What a guy!!
It was a wonderful trip to Vegas and Los Angeles, and a great time away from the routine and also away from Facebook, email, and blogs. Instead I spent time interacting with people in real life, which I think is the best way to really connect with people.
I spent time with my boyfriend (of course), his parents (great folks), his older brother Reg (the only brother I hadn't met), Reg's hospitable wife Tere and their 3 fun kids Daniella, Jacelyn, and Vincent.
I spent time seeing old friends, reminiscing about my life out west. I spent time talking, laughing, playing, worshipping, relaxing, enjoying, being. Being in the present, being grateful for so many blessings.
There are times when I am overwhelmed by feelings of gratitude. Feelings of being so blessed, thinking what did I ever do to deserve all these blessings. My eyes tear up. It's too much to keep in.
I am continually amazed by God's lavish grace and love to me - from who He has put in my life to even blessing me with a ridiculous amount of leg room on my flight home! He's so good to me!
My Dad & brother greeted me at the airport upon my return. They even had lunch for me! I went home to change, grabbed a coffee from McD's to recharge me for the day, and headed out to New Carlisle (30 minutes west) to work on our upcoming kids architecture camp. It was a good meeting, but I think we're both nervous about how the day camp will actually go. It's tomorrow. Ask me, and I'll let you know.
I have to head in to the office in a bit to finish some more preparations for the camp. Tomorrow is gonna be an early morning - and a long day. My goal is to stay up now (rather than taking a nap like I want) and then go to bed early and hope that I can quickly return to Eastern Time Zone.

Question for you blog readers:
I'd like to know how many (if any) of you read my blog on a regular basis, but are not facebook friends with me or do not look at my facebook page on a regular basis.
For example, if I post a video on facebook, do I need to also paste it on my blog?
Or, on the other hand, if I post a video on my blog, do I need to also put it on my facebook?
??
Please weigh in! Thanks!
