A Little Bit of History

September 24, 2008

Chicago hosted the World’s Fair in 1933 – 1934. The theme was a “Century of Progress.” Many homes were built with that theme, and 5 of them still stand. They were shipped on a barge across the Lake to Beverly Shores, Indiana.

The National Parks Service along with a historic preservation organization is working to restore these homes. They will be open to tour October 11 & 12. Tickets must be reserved in advance for $10. This is an event that is literally drawing people in from all across the country. Let me know if you'd like more information.
